Since we first announced LASiris VR at SPAR3D earlier this year, we have been working hard to develop and improve its hardware and back-end data processing. There’s still some work to do but we feel now is a good time to share with you our plans for releasing the product to market.
Background
LASiris VR is first and foremost about enabling reality capture for visualisation applications – and secondarily for measurement related applications. By being transparent with you from the start about expected performance, we hoped to attract and engage with people whose intended application areas were best suited to LASiris VR’s capabilities. We also expected, for those looking to use LASiris VR in new application areas, there would be some acceptability testing required – a phase we are approaching.
LASiris VR Developer Kit
We are planning to first release LASiris VR as a Developer Kit (DK) – a version of the product which is not yet at full commercial release status. Although not the finished article, the DK will deliver the baseline level performance required for acceptability testing in application areas of interest – whether that’s proving accuracy levels against an existing application or data processing workflow or using LASiris VR in completely new applications where current products are not viable.

Next steps
Before the end of the year we will confirm the DK specifications and provide sample data and images. We will be asking for expressions of interest from anyone who plans to buy a DK version of LASiris VR as this will help with our early production planning. We will confirm pricing at that point and inform you about any trade-in opportunities that we plan to implement to help our DK users upgrade to the final release (when ready).

LASiris VR: Coming soon…
Beyond the DK
Following the release of LASiris DK we will be collating feedback on performance, functionality and how you are using it. This feedback will be used for product refinement decisions prior to full commercial release. This will also help us understand what software tools and functions we need to develop or bring in through our OneStopVR platform – to ultimately give you value adding end to end solutions.
We are excited to have you alongside us on our journey to produce this groundbreaking new product.
